Hey Mark,

I went emeritus 'cos I was told it was better for numbers (long story) but
if I can help with some Python, please let me know.

Thanks for the offer of help Adam, much appreciated. I'm not sure on the timescale for the migration at this point. I'll update this thread when I have more info.

Things went more smoothly than I expected.

We are now up and running on gump1.ec2-or.apache.org

I have requested the INFRA update DNS to point vmgump.apache.org to the new location (and I'll fix TLS for that hostname once they do).

There were a few changes required to get things running. I think what I did makes sense but if you could review r1922260 in case I did something
foolish that would be appreciated.

By the way, if you ever want to revoke your emeritus status and return to the PMC let us know. You are clearly paying attention to what is going on so I see no benefit to you not being on the PMC.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi all,

While investigating the current Commons Daemon build failure I found it
was because the build tool-chain on Ubuntu 20.04 is too old.

I have spoken to ASAF infra and the upgrade path is for them to create a
new VM based on a newer Ubuntu version. I have gone ahead and requested
that. Once it is up and running, I'll do the work to resolve any issues
getting Gump running. My only concern is if Python updates are required.
I might need help if that is the case.
