Hadoop fans, This week we held the inaugural SF Hadoop meetup, and it was a great success! About forty people attended, and we held a number of great discussions. After an initial plenary session, an agenda was quickly drawn up and we identified a number of interesting topics. We spent the rest of the time in small groups, delving into these subjects in greater depth.
Break-out sessions included: * Hive and near-time data * Access to Hadoop for non-technical users * What are "Hadoopable problems" * Data ingestion best practices * Haderp: When Hadoop goes horribly wrong * HBase schema design best practices * Care and feeding of your Hadoop cluster A big thanks to everyone who came to this meeting; it was truly "user powered" and everyone's efforts contributed to the success we saw. I would once again like to thank Rapleaf for hosting and Cloudera for sponsoring the event. Based on the outcome of this event, we will definitely hold another SF Hadoop meetup in the near future. I will send out another announcement when details on time and location are available. Regards, - Aaron Kimball
