Excellent! This is great for the Phoenix podling, and also progress for the Incubator and the ASF. There has always been the need for tuning the NOTICE file for a binary redistribution when additional deps are pulled in, but for a long interval the Incubator got too lax and many podling releases were approved bearing binary-distro NOTICE files inappropriate for a canonical source release. > The source ones are simple, as we have no dependencies. Also excellent! (And also progress for the ASF and the Incubator.) Evaluating complex licensing documentation is costly. By keeping licensing files minimal and free of extraneous information, we spare downstream consumers from some of the challenges we're currently working through. > It's the binary one I'm trying to get clarity on. Or to put it another way, the licensing documentation for the official release is done and we are now concerned with licensing docs for a convenience binary provided by a third party. Your suggestion elsewhere regarding adding example cases to the licensing howto is well taken.
