Turns out it is not up to Pivotal. In fact, the statement I've just got goes like this: "Pivotal does not have, nor will it make, any claims to the GROOVY trademark" Basically, Pivotal was happy to sponsor the project (just like it sponsors RabbitMQ or Redis) but wasn't involved in sorting out the situation around the Groovy project name and its legal status. Shane, please let me know if this bit of information is sufficient for you. It appears as though ASF will have to do the usual PODDLINGNAMESEARCH and determine the status of Groovy trademark on its own. I plan to start a [VOTE] thread sometime on Wed, unless you tell me otherwise.
