hi all,

here's something i don't get, if anyone can clarify
any part of this i'd be thankful...

btw when i say commercial linux i mean red hat
enterprise server, suse linux enterprise server,
mandriva whatever. although i'm mostly interested in
red hat.

1 - what i don't understand is let's say you got a red
hat network subscription which entitles you yearly
support, patches, updates and the rest. the question
is, RHEL4 includes a huge amount of software and
servers, like apache, postfix, sendmail, postgresql,
... would red hat support everything and anything that
happens to my installation. so lets say postgresql
crashes big time and you can't bring it up, are they
the people to ask or would i need a 3rd party
postgresql consultant.

2- mysql is a dual license product, GPL and
commercial. from what i understand, if i develop a
closed source application using mysql as a backend,
i'll have to get a license from MySql AB for
distributing my commercial software, right? so Mysql
AB would be my support if anything goes wrong in
mysqld. so what happens to the red hat network
subscription i have, doesn't a red hat support provide
me with help in the case of a commercial software on
mysql. and wouldn't having a red hat subscription
entitle me of using mysql in commercial software?

thanks in advance...
