Interesting....
I never knew such things existed :)
And to be frank, I think I didn't quite grasp it fully, so I'll read it

Subject: [JoLUG-General] An applied linguist

Applied linguistics= linguistics+ knowledge form any other field
(psychology,sociology,computers/corpus linguistics...)
to handle areas where language is a major issue.
I got my MA in phonology (thesis on a new way to deal with footing in
jordanian arabic/and similar dialects within framework of optimality
theory in phonology).
I think u might find OT interesting, google it, there a web archive
(rutgers optimality archive), and it seems OT is major to
computational linguistics.
Anyway, am so interested in getting linux certified once i get a good
job, and like to be an active member in open-source community-thaanx 4
