I agree it would be great to have a page to point at when asked about the
differences between J and Matlab.

I have reread the discussions about J and Matlab I could find in my J
archives.

There are a few interesting remarks that have been made.

I have never seen nor used Matlab and have no real interest in doing so.

I do however want to know what to say when asked.

My feeling at the moment after reading about it this morning is that Matlab
is sort of a good front end to Lapack.

People who are geared into using Fortran and such language find it a dream
come true.

Matlab puts some elementary APL like functionality on top of Fortran.

Matlab is good at making simple Plots.

Matlab is very expensive and therefore it must be good.

There has been some comparisons between J and Matlab in the forum
discussions.
Is there any article ? I searched the jwiki and found none.

Thanks, Markus
