Maybe in a context of developing application that has to interoperate with
Excel on many different setups this suggestion ("use TARA") is great, but in
the context discussed by original poster (highly ad-hoc interactive data
manipulation by people who are not quite sure what they want to achieve in the
end) it seems more trouble than it worth.
Also, TARA does not work, for example, with google docs and I do not care that
it works with Excel because I do not own too many computers with Excel on it.
As far as "French clipboard is different" objection, I found it irrelevant: my
clipboard is not French and even if it were, I would have dealt with it in less
time than it took me to write all these words. As, I am sure, anyone else who
is borderline competent in J would.
