I agree this is the main issue and there may be better ways of doing
it than mine. I chose to highlight any text that starts with a start
of the line followed by 0 or more whitespace chars, followed by 2 or
more (46 { a. (ASCII) or ( u: 2472 ) chars and ends with a single
right bracket on a line by itself.
It seems to work OK for everything I've tried it with so far.
I've committed that to the Public SVN, but it is not yet available
from JAL. If you want to test it in the meantime you can download the
following two files (use plain text link at bottom of pages) and put
them in your ~config/ folder.
