An interesting article from the UK Telegraph comparing the liberal vs.
conservative situation in America and the UK. Essentially the author
arrives at the same conclusion as many on this side of the pond: the
liberals are out of touch with the common folk.

Warning: this opinion has not been approved by the BBC and the
standard left-wing press in the UK who are still whining about the
stupid voters in the US.

"Left-wing intellectuals, of course, are never, ever wrong. Nothing -
absolutely nothing - ever causes them to question their own beliefs.
It is the rest of the world that is out of step. And the rest of you -
the great democratic mass of people who have the temerity to think
your own thoughts and come to your own conclusions - are scarcely
worthy of the franchise." [franchise = right to vote ]
