I'm not sure whether this will make national/international news, but
this little story is a near perfect example of the leftest element in
our society.
For those of you who don't know, Boulder is a small city between
Denver and the mountains, home of the University of Colorado and home
of the rabid edge of the liberal constituency in Colorado. We don't
call it the Peoples Republic of Boulder for no reason; Republicans
need not apply. For reference, last year or year before last the
Boulder Public Library refused to allow the display of a large
American flag ("it might offend someone") but permitted the display of
an art exhibit consisting of artistically decorated dildos strung on a
clothesline!
Last week, a couple of Boulder high school teachers permitted an
overnight lie in of students opposed to the war in Iraq to develop
"worker spirit." and to complain about military recruiters appearing
at the school. The teacher claimed (subsequently proved to be false)
that recruiters under the Patriot Act were being allowed to access
student records. When interviewed, the teacher maintained that
military recruiters should not be allowed on campus withut prior
parental notification, but it is perfectly OK for students to have
abortions or treatment for STDs without prior parental notification.
In the meantime, the same teachers and a few students have formed a
rock band to participate in the school band contest. The name of the
band is the Taliband, and the number which got the group into the
finals has lyrics approximately like this "Geoge Bush I hope you die
soon, and we'll stand on your coffin to make sure." (patterned after a
Bob Dylan number).
The details of this are being aired on local radio, and the rats are
now scrambling for their holes leaving behind "no comments"
Your tax dollars at work.
