I just got back from a 3 day trip to Sacramemto to the Davis Transplant
Center for my yearly check-up. On the way home we stopped at the
Sun-Dial Bridge across the Sacramento River in Redding. It is truly
worht the trip to visit. There is one heck of a park there. If you
have little kids (Lonnie) they have the largest butterfly exhibit in the
United states. The park is really a great place to visit. I'm not sure
how far it is from the Bay Area, but it can't be too far. I just
Mapwested it and it's about 250 miles and about 3 hrs. and 45 min.
It would be worth getting off early Friday and spending all day Saturday
and part of Sunday.

By the way we Northern Californians think Northern California starts at
Redding. From my College days California geography class the center of
the state is just north of Fresno. That puts the Bay Area in the
northern part of Central California.
