Great! My patch is pushed to the InheritMojo. Since I still can't create a jira account, there is no associated bug number :( If anyone else has problems with Maven3, I imagine this will fix it (or at least part of it -- I don't promise this is the only potential Maven3 issue here, although it now works for me). If maven-inherit-plugin gets released and pushed up to Maven Central, I would be much obliged...
