Bad news: Samsung has modified its marketing article about Gear Fit2: "applications" has been deleted in the text cited below. Worse: Samsung lets developers work on Fit2 apps but none will be accepted in the store, except some tpk watchfaces.
Conclusions: 1) Zero respect for customers and app devs; 2) Zero chance to have third-party apps on the best-selling Tizen device: such an absurdity would be impossible with an Android device; 3) I hope it's just stupidity, not an attempt to kill the fledgling Tizen ecosystem Regards, Olivier On Sat, Jul 16, 2016 at 8:25 AM, Olivier Nyssen <nysse...@gmail.com> wrote: > Good news from Samsung: "From the user’s perspective, now anyone can > develop applications or watchfaces for the Gear Fit2, and users can > download and use it – that’s because Tizen OS-related SDKs are provided and > there is an app store." > https://news.samsung.com/global/gear-fit2-rundown-how-engine > ering-integration-created-a-new-world-for-gps-workouts > > On Tue, Jul 12, 2016 at 4:35 AM, Olivier Nyssen <nysse...@gmail.com> > wrote: > >> Hello, >> >> I've bought the Samsung Gear Fit2: I love its curved screen, which is >> particularly well adapted for the wrist. >> This device is going to be a best-seller, that's a certainty. >> It's better than its closest competitor (Microsoft Band 2) in every >> aspect, including a bigger and better screen: >> http://comparewear.com/compare/microsoft-band-2-vs-samsung- >> gear-fit2-vs-samsung-gear-s2/ >> >> But Microsoft has a SDK for Band 2: >> https://developer.microsoftband.com/ >> >> Samsung is trying to create a Tizen ecosystem but their best-selling >> Tizen device will not be supported by the SDK: this is absurd imo >> >> Regards, >> Olivier >> > >
