Shai,

Well I am glad email is working now. Chandler's email is pretty rudimentary, most of our efforts have been going into calendar functionality, so don't expect much from Chandler's email at this stage of development.

If you could tell me exactly how you are setting the alarm, what type of event, recurrence, how far in the future, etc. I could try and duplicate your problem here. Other than that I don't know what to tell you on the alarm problem.

If you want to contribute ideas about how Chandler should work you could subscribe to the design mailing list here: http://www.osafoundation.org/mailing_lists.htm. If nothing else you could write and give them your first impressions.

Hi,

Thanks for your quick response time!

Some clarifications so we can answer your questions. When you say that
Chandler won't do the tests for SMTP setup do you mean that you are
clicking the 'test' button in the accounts setup dialog and it is not
giving you a response? or it is just not reporting success? If it is
not reporting success what message is it giving you? When I have had
problems with mail settings I have found it useful to compare my
settings in Chandler to the settings in another mail program that is
working, have you done anything like this?

I've clicked the 'test' button and didn't get any response.
When I tried sending an email, it said at the bottom-left status bar
that it is 'sending mail...' and it just stays that way for a long
time.
After I sent you this email to the mailing list, I decided that until
you reply I'd remove Chandler from my OS and so I did.
Now that you replied, I re-installed it and it seems to have kept all
my settings, mails etc. and I tried sending again the email and this
time it worked.
The mail stayed in the Out box instead of moving to a Sent items box.
The email did arrive at the other hand!
NOTE: I still don't get any response when I click the 'test' button.

Could you give me a more detailed explanation of what you did when the
alarm didn't work? Currently you will only get an alarm when Chandler
is running. Was Chandler running when you expected to get an alarm.

I did have Chandler running when I expected the alarm to go off.

If you create an event for tomorrow, set an alarm on it and then grab it in
the calendar grid and drag it to yesterday do you get a pop up?

Yes.

Finally could you tell us what version of Chandler you are using?

Version: 0.6-1 (rev 9430 build 0.6.1)

Thanks again for giving Chandler a try,

Dan

Thanks you!! for offering an alternative to the expensive MS Outlook
and Exchange!
I wish to see much progress in Chandler and so to make it applicable to all :)

Please, if there is any chance that what I have to say about this
software, what I wish it would do and what I like and dislike about it
would make any difference, I will be glad to help out there!!!

Cheers,
Shai
