Below is a proposal for this Friday's Inter-Entity test session.

Goal of Test Session: Test new documentation, in particular:
+ Landing Page
+ Download and Sign-up pages
+ Publish and Subscribe (in Chandler Hub) process
+ Screencasts

Part I: Getting set up

1. Introduction to Chandler Project and Test Session Goals

2. Point people to wiki page with all the relevant links. (Aparna is putting this together.)

3. Start with the landing page: http://chandlerproject.org

4. Download the Desktop and Sign up for a Chandler Hub Account

{Refer people to the Get Started Guide: http://chandlerproject.org/ getstarted}

5. Install Chandler Desktop.

6. Try Publishing a Collection

{Test 2 different versions of the publish instructions.}
+ http://chandlerproject.org/pub/Product/GetStartedGuide/4- SharingCollection.html

7. Try inviting each other share the published collections.

8. Access each other's published collections via Chandler Hub.

Again, our focus is on testing the documentation rather than the workflows themselves. Essentially, are people able to follow along with the instructions?

Part II: Screencasts

View screencasts one at a time. After each screencast, ask people to try out in Chandler the things they saw in the screencast.

(We should probably tell people that they can re-watch the screencasts or parts of the screencasts as much as they want. It's not a test ;)

Question we have about the screencasts:
1. What's the best ordering for the screencasts?
2. Are they too long? too short?
3. In each screencast, are there moments that are too slow? too fast?
4. Do people re-watch particular sections?
5. Are there parts that require more context?

Proposed order for showing the Screencasts:
1. Navigation and the Faceted Sidebar
2. Stamping
3. Smorsgabord and Quick_Entry
4. Triage and Tickling
5. Sharing via the Hub

(I'm most uncertain about whether 3 should go before 2)

You can view the screencasts here: https:// designdav.osafoundation.org/Screencasts/ (Currently, I have pretty solid drafts for everything except 'Triage and Tickling'.)

The movies are quite large, so we should definitely try to download them in the background during Part I of the Test Session.

Subject: Chandler 'Preview' is here!

A warm Hello to all from OSAF land,
As many of you may know, we are about to release the first "Preview"
version of our flagship product, Chandler (if you are new and would
like to read up about Chandler, you can do so at : http://
www.chandlerproject.org/ )

The last few months have been rather gruelling for the team as we
have gone through the cycle of developing the application, testing
it, polishing it, dogfooding it, getting feedback from the community,
fixing the various bugs in it etc.

We are finally ready to have some/all of you give a quick shot at
using Chandler and providing us with your feedback. Your feedback can range from basic defects in the software to various usability issues.

So here's the proposal:
How about we all get together next *Tuesday*, Aug 14th in Whoville
around 12:15 PM. We can have lunch ordered early around 11:30 AM so
people can finish lunch before starting the test session.
What you will be provided with is the user guide as well a demo of
the screencast on how to use Chandler.
What you will need to bring with you is your laptop.

Many of the OSAF people will be around to answer questions during the
session.

We are highly interested in your feedback. So
please let me know if you will be able to participate.
If this date/time doesn't work well, let us know and we will try to
reschedule it for another day.

We will be giving out free Hats to everyone who participates. Also,
really cool looking Chandler T-shirts have been ordered. Anyone who
participates will also get a free T-shirt when the stock arrives

Thanks in advance,
Aparna
