Gunnar Hillert commented on XGC-135:
------------------------------------

Yes, you have the base XMP support and it works rater well for the Dublin Core
(DC) namespace but there is a plethora of other XMP namespaces available (Your
other supported namespaces are PDF centric):

I am not advocating to support all namespaces, but it would be great to go
beyond Dublin Core a bit, and to support the main image-centric namespaces. In
my opinion, supporting the *IPTC Photo Metadata Standard* would be a good
target as it would encompass the main relevant namespaces.

As far as I am aware, _XML Graphics Commons_ paired with _Apache Commons
Imaging_ are the ONLY OSS Java options to read AND write image metadata (EXIF /
IPTC / XMP). So this project could be quite useful in the imaging-space!

>
> Currently XML Graphics Commons has support only for *Dublin Core* (DC).
> However, there is also the *Photoshop* namespace that adds many more relevant
> XMP tags. It would be great if XML Graphics Commons added support for the
> IPTC Photo Metadata Standard 2022.1 which combines elements from the
> following 4 namespaces:
> - Dublin Core
> - Photoshop
> - IPTC Core schema
> - XMP Rights
