Thankyou to those who replied to my query. By swapping cables with my daughter's modem (ugh - it has been used on a PC - I hope my Amiga doesn't catch a disease), I discovered the problem - a new cable needed, at minimal cost. >From now on, I will be greatly comforted to know that whenever Genesis connects to my ISP, my data set (whatever that is) is ready (sigh!)
