Igot the modem and Internet connaction at the same time. The modem had
faulty firmware and brokew down after two days. WHen I phoned the ISp
help desk they told me a command I should have in the modem init
string. Before I put it in, I went through the horrible PDF manual to
see what it was. It was to choke the modem back to 33.6. That pissed
me off a tiny bit.

After years of 14.4 and never missing one bit it came as a bit of a
disappointment to me to discover how flaky 56k is. One thing they
don't seem to like at all is sharing the line with other telephone
devices, especially cordless phones.
