I think the answer depends on whether you've rebooted or are just trying
to awaken a connection that has timed out/dropped off. For the fallen
connection, try typing in "bootpconfig" at a CLI.

The reboot situation requires some theorizing:

   1. Set your modem to ignore Data Terminal Ready (DTR). Failure to do
so will cause the modem to hang up when the serial port resets.

   2. The machine has now rebooted and is hopefully still connected to the
ISP.

   3. You'll need to start AmiTCP without the dialer (I don't think the
startnet script is smart enough to pull this off). This includes setting
up your nameserver and user ID parameters.

   4. Figure out your IP address and your host information. I think Miami
buries a sentinel with this information in RAM that it finds on Miami
restart. I suppose you could simulate this by putting your env: in RAD:
which would preserve all the critical information that your ppp device
provided when you first connected. I think the environment variables you
would be looking for would be ppp0iplocal (your address), ppp0ipremote
(gateway address) and hostname.

There may be a way to query these three pieces of information but I don't
happen to have my AmiTCP documentation at work. I use Miami on my A500 at
work.
