Hello, My name is Michael Hamilton, and I am a genetics graduate student at
UC Davis. I am currently trying to compare a 2.8Mb chromosomal region
across species. Our lab is mainly concerned with feline genetics. The
domestic cat has a 1.9x coverage, and I am concerned that the browser
Garfield is leaving out genes because of the low coverage. My goal in
comparing this region across species is to hopefully show synteny across ~5
mammalian species, and demonstrate that these genes are arranged in a
similar fashion in the cat.

Questions:

1. Of the 26 listed prediction programs, what prediction program do you
recommend for this?

2. Would transmap work?

3. Transmap only lists a couple species on the full option. Why? Does
this exist for dog or cat?

4. Would you stick with only one program or multiple program for this?

thank you,
Michael Hamilton
