Hello,

It is beyond the scope of the mailing list to perform research on
individual data features, but we can help you to gain access to
information and tools that you can use to perform your own analysis.

Using the UCSC Browser, a search in hg19 or hg18 using the keyword
"rs71803444" will take you to an Assembly browser with the SNP highlighted.

hg18 = Human Mar. 2006 (NCBI36/hg18) assembly
hg19 = Human Feb. 2009 (GRCh37/hg19) assembly

In the Assembly browser window, you can open up other tracks to view
their relationship with the position of the SNP. Click on the SNP name
to see summarized annotation. Follow the link out to dbSNP to find:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/SNP/snp_ref.cgi?type=rs&rs=rs71803444

Another analysis path to try is to send the UCSC dbSNP entry to Galaxy
and perform an intersection with the SNP datasets they include. To do
this, use the Table Browser to extract the SNP record (using the rs
identifier, the hg18 database, and the db130 dbSNP track). Choose output
= BED and check the "Galaxy" box.

Once in Galaxy, your record will appear in the history. Click on the top
link into the Data Libraries, select the dataset(s) of interest, load
these into your history, and use a function such as Operate on Genomic
Intervals -> Intersect. If any of the datasets share a position with
your SNP, then you might be able to find out more about possible
known/experiential function.

Good luck with your research,
Jennifer
