Hello Amy, As a general check, I tested the file name to make sure it wasn't causing a problem. I tested it with both "gunzip" and "gzip -dc" and both would uncompress it.
To start, please double check the original .wig file format versus the FAQ. http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/wiggle.html Then gzip it again and try the same command that produced the error. If something corrupted the data, it would be unlikely to occur twice, and this is important to eliminate before we go further. If you do get an error again, then problem is with something else. In that case, please send more details about your analysis pipeline. Thanks, Jennifer ps: Just so you know, we are no longer recommending the use of .wig format. The preferred format is .bigWig, although this may not be a format accepted by all kent utilities yet. Feedback about what does not work with this format (if you decide to use it) would be greatly appreciated. http://genomewiki.ucsc.edu/index.php/Selecting_a_graphing_track_data_format --------------------------------- Jennifer Jackson UCSC Genome Informatics Group http://genome.ucsc.edu/ On 5/11/10 4:22 PM, Amy Shipley wrote: > *File '6_30F9RAAXX.92_GERALD-2009-07-23test_fixed_200_standard.wig.gz' - > process exited with 1: "gzip -dc" in pipeline "gzip -dc" * > > It says the file must be in .wig format and can be a .gz, so what is wrong? > Thanks > _______________________________________________ Genome maillist - [email protected] https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/mailman/listinfo/genome
