Hello Ling, chr17_ctg5_hap1 is a haplotype chromosome. These are declared in the Credits section for the assembly on the Gateway page:
http://genome.ucsc.edu/ -> Genome Browser -> set assembly to hg19 1) click on "Sequences" in the statement "About the Human Feb. 2009 (GRCh37/hg19) assembly (sequences)" for a list of all reference genome sequences for this assembly. 2) scroll to bottom on page of the Gateway page to the "Credits" section. In the section "Chromosome naming scheme", the nine haplotype's alternate names are defined. 3) in the credits section there is also a link out to the NCBI Build 37.1 Statistics web page with more details: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/projects/genome/assembly/grc/human/data/?build=37 Hopefully this helps to clear up the reference genome content, but please let us know if you need more assistance, Jennifer --------------------------------- Jennifer Jackson UCSC Genome Informatics Group http://genome.ucsc.edu/ On 5/19/10 8:22 AM, 翁翎 wrote: > UCSC officials, > > When I searched for "MAPT" gene on UCSC Genome with "assembly" "Feb 2009 > (GRch37/hg19)", I found > > MAPT at chr17_ctg5_hap1:762283-895830 > <http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTracks?position=chr17_ctg5_hap1:762283-895830&hgsid=160015634&refGene=pack&hgFind.matches=NM_005910,> > MAPT at chr17:43971748-44105697 > <http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTracks?position=chr17:43971748-44105697&hgsid=160015634&refGene=pack&hgFind.matches=NM_005910,> > with the same (NM_005910). > What's the difference?
