Hi, Philippe!

We are migrating to Git for source code management.

This old CVS server will be restored soon temporarily
but only to help people migrate any complex customizations
they might have left in their old cvs sandboxes.

You should install Git 1.6.2.2 or greater
and then use this method to download source:

ONE TIME SETUP:

cd $HOME
mv kent old-kent # if you have an old kent sandbox
git clone git://genome-source.cse.ucsc.edu/kent.git

And if you want to use the beta branch which
always follows our latest tested release you can do this
cd kent
git checkout -t -b beta origin/beta

ABOUT EVERY TWO WEEKS or when a new release comes out:
cd $HOME/kent
git pull
make ... # make as usual

We are still in the process of updating our wiki pages
and documentation to reflect the new usage with Git,
but that should be done soon.

If you have more questions this list is the right place.
