Hello Erik,

It is true that not all of the UCSC Genes' track transcripts will have a 
HUGO identifier. There is no work around - the assignment just has not 
been made. (The track description methods explains about the different 
inputs).

What may help is using the best mapping table for this particular ID: 
kgProtAlias. Please see this prior Q/A for the details:
