Hello Claire, Adding a dbSNP track to all of the assemblies with data is a current goal, but we cannot commit to a specific time period for this to be released in the dog assembly. If you would like to check back in a few months, we may have more information.
Meanwhile, the file from dbSNP could be obtained and formatted into a custom track (BED6 format would be a good, simple file format choice). This would not produce a track exactly like the one generated by UCSC, but it would put the SNPs on the genome for Table browser comparisons, visualization, etc. If this sounds interesting to you, here is the custom track help: http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/hgTracksHelp.html#CustomTracks Please feel free to contact the mailing list support team again if you would like more assistance.
