Hello Bob,

The ESTs in the UCSC Genome Browser come directly from NCBI. If they
align to the reference genome using BLAT, we display them in the track
(see the Tetraodon ESTs track description for details). If the EST has
not been deposited at GenBank, it will not appear in our EST tracks.

One suggestion for looking for ESTs related to MBP is to enter "myelin
basic protein" or "MBP" (without the quotes) in the position/search box
on the tetraodon browser. When I try this, I see several hits in the
"Other mRNAs" track. You could go to these regions and turn on the
"Tetraodon ESTs" track to see if any ESTs from GenBank align in the same
region. This would perhaps find tetraodon ESTs that are similar to MBP
but not annotated as such.

Otherwise, I suggest a literature search. If ESTs related to MBP have
been published and deposited in GenBank with an accession number, you
can enter the accession in the tetraodon Genome Browser to see if/where
it aligns to the tetraodon genome.

Good luck with your research.
