I still don't understand, though.

In the UCSC genome browser, there are THOUSANDS of "UCSC genes" and "Refseq
genes" on chromosome 1, which can be visualized in squish. If you try to
view them in pack, it forces you into squish.

Why can't I get the same configuration on my local installation?
