Hello, David, There is no need to program the assembly name into a custom track, as that option is chosen using the pulldowns on the page where you load the track:
http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgCustom The page defaults to the genome assembly you have been using in the browser, but you can change it any other assembly.
