 Hi Jing,****

** **

I had a question from a collaborator about the current state of the cat
genome assembly that I was wondering if you had any insight about.****

** **

The UCSC browser currently supports the Dec 2008 (NHGRI/GTB V17e/felCat4)
version of the genome in addition to the 2006 (Broad/felCat3). My
collaborator heard that WashU is doing more sequencing on the original
Abyssinian cat and will be putting out a better assembly soon (the original
assembly was based on only about 2.8X coverage).****

** **

Since you’re at the epicenter of the UCSC browser scene, do you know anyone
I could ask about pending releases of a new cat genome assembly?****

** **

Thanks,****
