Hello Greg,

Thanks for the hint. It has been very useful at least it gives me more hints to
keep trying to fix it.

When I try to check the version, going to hgTracks, the browser displays that
error:
Cannot find correct version of file 'HGStyle.css'; this is due to an
installation error Error details:
/var/www/ucsc2/rsyncdownloadhtdocs/style/HGStyle-1335332800.css does not exist

actually it should be "v266.css" instead of that weird number. It looks like
the CGIs don't know which version are they, nor the precompiled ones I've
downloaded like you recommended, nor the ones that I build from the kent
source. (if I change the name of the .css to the name its trying to find, I end
up with the previous error about "cannot find userDb")

I will do the installation process again in case I miss something.

Thank you!

Hi Francesc,

To find the version number, go to tgTracks (cgi-bin/hgTracks, the main browser
application) in a web browser. The version number will be part of the page
title (e.g., Human chr4:95,128,759-95,212,443 - UCSC Genome Browser v266).

It sounds like maybe you downloaded just the raw source, html files, etc., but
did not "build" the CGIs. You might want to download the precompiled binaries
as mentioned here: http://genome.ucsc.edu/admin/mirror.html#step6

Hi Luvina,

Thank you for your answer. I recently downloaded the kent source, anyway, I run
the scripts of "kentSrcUpdate" and "updateHtml" several times. So I guess I
have the latest versions of it. The problem persists. Is there a way to check
the version of the cgis?

To give more clues: when I look at the error_log of apache I see " cartTablesOk
failed on hgcentral.userDb!" (and that brings me to the point that hgcentral
has no table of userDb, not in mines and not in the ones I can download from
your site). It is the hgGateway which gives the error of "can't find profile
backupcentral in hg.conf" and gives that error in the error log.

In the ex.hg.conf the backupcentral profile is commented so I guess it is not
needed in hg.conf, but if I decomment and I put the same configuration db as
hgcentral then hgGateway says:
Cannot access cart tables in central (nor backupcentral) database. Please check
central and backupcentral settings in the hg.conf file and the databases they
specify.
The error on the log is still the same:
 cartTablesOk failed on hgcentral.userDb!

Also any other work around is welcome (or any other hint of what I am doing
wrong)!

Thank you for taking your time and helping me!

Francesc

Hi Francesc,

One of our engineers suggests checking your CGI version. The problem may
be that your CGIs are out of sync as mentioned in the previous
discussion:
https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/pipermail/genome-mirror/2009-December/001509.html.

Please contact us again at

Hello,

I have an issue similar to the one discussed in this topic:
https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/pipermail/genome-mirror/2009-December/001509.html

I got this error:
ASH: cartTablesOk failed on hgcentral.userDb!

this is expected, because my database hgcentral has no table userDb (nor
sessionDb).

My issue comes that when I tried to upload this scheme:
http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/admin/hgcentral.sql

or equally run the script fetchHgCentral.sh I receive a scheme of the database
hgCentral with no table called userDb nor sessionDb.

Where can I get the proper .sql file? Or if I am doing something wrong, any
hint/help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Francesc
