Hello, My Name is Emon Elboudwarej, I am a researcher at the University of California Berkeley. I conduct DNA methylation research and I have asked the company Illumina as to how they define what a CpG shore and shelf are. They have informed me that they get this information directly from the UCSC genome browser and I was wondering how you have gotten your definition for a CpG island, shore, and shelf. Was this an arbitrary definition set by you, or is there a specific source that you cite for this definition. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
