Jude, When bbooting the image in a vm, typing speakup=speakup.soft doesn't
seem to work.  I don't have bareboons hardware so want to try this in a vm
for now.  Have you tried in a vm?  Anyone elsse on this list tried this.
There doesn't seem to be much info on accessibility.  Thanks.

At the boot prompt: speakup=speakup.soft needs to be keyed in to bring
speakup up talking.  It's been several years since my last failed gentoo
install but I was able to get gentoo speaking while that failure happened.
You'll learn lots about your hardware when you do this.
What killed me every gentoo install was the kernel building step near the
end of the install.
