1) only valid method to install gentoo for screen reader accessibility is
to do it from an existing linux installation. The rest of what's on the
internet does not work.
2) no user visible parts exist when installing gentoo from a flash drive
so all edits done will remain invisible until a reboot test is done.
I did edits on a flash drive sdb1 and sdb4 had missing ntfs signatures and
neither the directories or the files edited in them could be found on
/dev/sdb2 and /dev/sdb3.
3) a hairy way to run a screen reader installation.
4) with the latest reboot attempt I ran dhcpcd and since nothing talks or
beeps I couldn't even get an idea if it ran successfully and that was
before doing emerge espeakup alsa-utils
so can't say if any of those commands worked either.
5) for future reference following commands got run:
speaker-test and heard static
nano /etc/modules-load.d/espeakup.conf
In file used control-e to go to end of file and added speakup_soft then
did control-o and control-x to save the change.
emerge espeakup alsa-utils
nano /etc/conf.d/alsasound
in file control-e then SAVE_ON_STOP="yes"
then control-o and control-x
rc-update add alsasound boot
rc-update add espeakup default
6) so far,no espeakup talks when flash drive gets rebooted.
