If someone has time
please download:
https://distfiles.gentoo.org/releases/amd64/autobuilds/20240428T163427Z/install-amd64-minimal-20240428T163427Z.iso
I tried the following edits after booting the iso on a flash drive:
nano /etc/modules-load.d/espeakup.conf
# at end of file I put:
speakup_soft
# save and exit.
emerge espeakup alsa-utils
nano /etc/conf.d/alsasound
# at end of file
SAVE_ON_STOP="yes"
# save and exit.
rc-update add alsasound boot
rc-update add espeakup default
then reboot.
speech here is not coming up due to an error in espeakup.
Can you replicate error?
