Do you by chance know if ncurses has been emerged yet? Try and see if
you have $EPREFIX/usr/include/ncurses.
If not, see what happens if you emerge ncurses first.
I saw it get emerged the first time I emerged bash. When I try to
emerge it, it shows it being reemerged:

$ emerge -a ncurses
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] sys-libs/ncurses-5.5-r3
--------
But the file/dir you said to check for doesn't seem to exist:
$ ls /g2/usr/include/ncurses
ls: /g2/usr/include/ncurses: No such file or directory
So I reemerged ncurses anyway, and then tried emerging readline-5.2
again, but it died with the same error in the sames spot.
