Well, OK, I'm going to plead ignorance on this one. I'm a newbie in need of some advice.

My gentoo box blew up a few months ago, and I've been trying to reinstall it for some time. I don't have a lot of time to spend on getting it running, but have been hammering away at 2004.3r1 for a while now. I'm stuck on a bug w/ Coreutils during the system emerge (you AMD64 developers I'm told will know about it).

So... I have a non-functional piece of hardware I'd _really_ like to get running (as this 500Mhz P3 Windell is getting very tiring). I've tried installing 2004.3r1 several times, and they all die at the bug (must be a nasty one).

Anyways, I'd like everyone's advice on how to continue. Do I drop back to an earlier profile, burn a new LiveCD, and when they get the kinks worked out, then do a Deep/World update (or however it is you do those things, I'm still learning). I generally like to stick w/ the latest stable system available to me, regardless of OS, but... well, SuSe's FTP site is going to get a workout from me on Monday if I can't get this thing running soon. Nothing personal... I just can't continue working on my old computer every day, its taking me forever to do simple things like read my eMail.

Thanks for the help. I really like the gentoo Distro (portage does Rock), but I like being able to use my computer investments for something other than desk landscaping. Thanks again.
