I have no idea. I just emerged ati-drivers-8.10.19 and everything worked fine. I found out Cedega obeys LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH to so I set that to the 32-bit ATI DRI modules, got 43.3FPS @ 1280x1024, compared to 60fps in Windows. Everything seems fine to me.

Subject: [gentoo-amd64] New ATI binary drivers

In the notes for version 8.10.19
(http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4788.html), they say that a number of
32-bit programs are required in order for the driver to install or work
properly. Among these, expat, freetype, zlib, libgcc, libstdc++, fontconfig
and others (they talk about "packages", and from their names I seem to
understand that the note is targeted to rpm-based distros users, since they
release the drivers only in rpm format).
Anyway, I have neither of those 32-bit "packages" (I have only the 64-bit
versions as installed by portage), and nonetheless the driver installs and
works (although the bug that corrupts the X display when switching to a vc
and then back to X has not been fixed).
Should I worry? Is the ebuild playing some tricks to fool ATI's installer?

Thanks
