Stupidity, ignorance, and/or apathy are not good reasons for breaking 
thoughtful, long-lived, and useful standards and tradition.  Of course, 
they aren't good reasons for keeping them either.

References transfers the intent of the composer [Reply vs. New Mail] in a 
way that a Subject does not.  As I mentioned in my other email, this is a 
desired feature, not a bug.
