There must be a bug with the notifications in thunderbird-3.1. The pop-up opens as usual at the right lower corner of the desktop (gnome) workspace, but it shows blank.
On the terminal it says: (thunderbird-bin:3248): libnotify-CRITICAL **: notify_notification_update: assertion `summary != NULL && *summary != '\0'' failed (on ~amd64)
