(I have run into trouble, though, due to systemd being in the 32-bit compatibility binaries and installing pkg-config files. I suppose I could just have emerge remove those files via a Portage hook.)
Isn't this what INSTALL_MASK="/usr/lib/systemd/" in /etc/portage/make.conf is for?
