A simple dns query is enough: #host cvs.jackit.sourceforge.net
cvs.jackit.sourceforge.net is an alias for cvs.sourceforge.net. cvs.sourceforge.net has address 66.35.250.207 I believe sf.net got one big cvs server for all the projects they host.
