Ebuilds are small, and gentoo is not the unknown underdog it was some time ago. This might: - ease the load on portage for uncommon ebuilds. - motivate developers to generate/update ebuilds (if they use gentoo themselves) - helps people see that the package runs on gentoo (This might not be obvious to someone not using gentoo and seeing only a .rpm, a .deb and a source tarball ....)
