i'm kind of surprised no one else got around to writing a post-LWE 2005 summary before me, but oh well ... guess i'll take the liberty of doing a brain dump of all the stuff i remember
other devs/users feel free to add your two bits ... i know a bunch was said about different corporations/organizations being interested in/using Gentoo, but really i could care less about that, so i wont bother ;) - paraphernalia ! people asked about shirts and some thought large posters of our sexy G would bring them that extra uNF in the bedroom ... which is to say they wanted to buy one - cds ! people loved our x86 livecds, but next time i bring my own box, i'll bring copies of every arch's livecd on it so that when we get the few ppc/amd64/sparc request, i can just burn em a quick copy - embedded ! almost every question was about ARM ... got like two MIPS questions, but they were related to running Gentoo on old school SGI boxes - free crap ! other than your standard free shirts, O Reilley was so bad ass as to give out TONS of free books to us open source guys. man, i'm so only buying their books from now on :D. vmware hooked up open source linux devs with free licenses if you showed up at their booth. bit defender was giving out condoms for your bits ... - devs / users ! so much fun actually meeting all of you in person, hanging out and shootin the shit, going out afterwards for booze/food. i think i touched all your bums ... sorry if i missed anyone, didnt mean to make you feel left out. FYI, agriffis has a hot wife, but her husband is hotter. - pics ! i've uploaded all my LWE pics here: http://www.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/misc/pics/LWE/2005/?root=gentoo i dont have too many ... i spent most of the time behind the booth because i had a great time just talking to all the cool people who came by ... anyone else who snapped pics, please upload ! (non-devs, e-mail me pics and i'll upload em) -mike -- gentoo-dev@gentoo.org mailing list
