Auto compressing is nice, but I have a question for info files. The /usr/share/info/<package>/dir file must not be compressed but is with newer versions. As I read in a bug [1], packages should not install dir files, so what is the best solution here? Does Portage create the dir file? Should I remove it from the sandbox image?
