If their ways are better, there should be absolutely no problem.

I don't see how this is relevant to the problem of udev and /usr at
all. Unless you want to go back to the days of devfs and lots of
manual configuration. :)

My problem was with people blaming the need for an initramfs on
systemd, which is not true at all. The discussion of the relative
merits and demerits of systemd is an entirely different discussion.
