AFAIK grub2 has a zfs module and therefore zfs support.  I was just 
reading the thread announcing the freeze for grub 2.0, and there was a 
bit of discussion there about it, so whatever licensing issues they had 
with it previously, appear to have been worked out, as it's supposed to 
be part of grub 2.0.

So at least the grub-9999 build should have zfs support.  1.99 probably 
has it in some form, but I don't know what its status is.  Those are both 
in the gentoo main tree, tho both are masked.
