Emerging syslinux fails on linking.

I tried to use the gcc profiles vanilla and hardened-nossp with the same
result. (yes I did a "source /etc/profile" between the changes)

Also the syslinux-2.13 fails to compile with a similar error message.
Any ideas whats the problem? I cannot remeber seeing this with the
uclibc-0.9.26.
