I figured out the classpath issue; the following fixed it: # java-config --clean-system-classpath # env-update && source /etc/profile
Maybe we need a message about running java-config after emerging JAR files or maybe it should be done automatically.

ant-optional failed to build. I opened a bug and attached a patch here: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38874
It was a simple classpath issue; I added ant to the classpath setup in the ebuild.

Hi all,
In the next few hours ill be commiting a new dev-java/ant ebuild (version 1.6.0-r2) that addresses the problem of not having optional tasks available.
- dev-java/ant will provide a minimal ant.
If you have optional-tasks local use flag activated you it will pull the ant-optional package.
- dev-java/ant-optional ebuild will provide all the optional tasks to ant. (Check the use flags of this package.)
Both will be KEYWORD masked -* so change it to your arch and test it.
Ill apreciate any bug reports you have post it on http://bugs.gentoo.org
